”Connecting Sounds“, a new concert format for the Munich Symphony Orchestra, 2016

After discussions on the location of the new concert hall, we created a temporary space in collaboration with the Munich Symphony Orchestra – in the rows of our own Blackspace office hall. Sound reactive desk lamps transformed the work space into a glowing sheet of music one could walk through. And the individual instruments turned the room into an experimental body of sound. It wasn’t a conventional orchestra situation in which the audience simply listened. Instead, they became an integral part of this sound installation, not just observers.

The Munich Symphony Orchestra sits in the former premises of the Blackspace agency and gives a concert. The audience either sits in between or at the side. A musician plays his wind instrument.     The guests of the event stand on the gallery of the old industrial hall and listen to the musicians who have temporarily taken their seats at the desks of the designers.
