From me to you, trade fair booth for Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, 2012

After a years-long cooperation, this exhibition at the 2012 drupa marked a change of perspective for Heidelberger Druckmaschinen. They pivoted from their position as the world’s largest German precision mechanical engineering company to face their clients with an unmistakable message: Your printing work is our company’s success.

For the implementation, we built a large trade fair booth solely out of thousands of client’s printing press plates, linked together like a giant metal curtain. The big picture press plate skin visualized to all what the company, quite literally, is made of – printing jobs.

One positive side effect: intelligent and economical use of materials led to the cheapest exhibition booth ever built. Disassembled, the booth measures one cubic meter in volume, and can even travel in a suitcase.

Many people are standing at the red booth of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen. Two walls of old printing plates form a corridor on the exhibition stand.    Large letters hang above the Heidelberger Druckmaschinen booth at drupa 2012. Three men sit on a red bench in front of a red wall of old printing plates and take a break. Large silver letters hang from the ceiling.
